Biography

Andy concentrates on general business and health law in his practice, and currently teaches in both areas at Widener Law School. Upon graduating from Yale Law School in 1985, Andy began his legal career at Dechert, focusing on health law, general corporate law and mergers and acquisitions. He moved to Eckert Seamans (then Hangley Connolly) in 1987, where he was made partner and chair of the firm's health law department. Andy joined Salvo Landau in 1994, and is currently "of counsel" to the firm in his areas of specialization.

Representative Matters

Andy has represented clinical research organizations, software, biotechnology and other service and data-based companies and nonprofits in their licensing and general contracting matters. In his health law practice, Andy has represented an HMO in its initial formation and subsequent operations, as well as numerous hospitals and physician practices in matters ranging from mergers and acquisitions to internal organization and provider contracting.

Professional Experience

Before becoming a lawyer, Andy was a professor of English literature at Yale and Princeton. In that capacity he published a book with Yale Press, among other scholarly works, and received several fellowships and awards, including a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship, a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellowship and a fellowship from the American Council of Learned Societies. Recent legal publications include an article on the legal rules affecting ownership of health care enterprises (Owning a Piece of the Doc, Journal of Health Law, 2006).
